We're showcasing on the 12th at The Wave. We'll be in town all week. Would love to get together at some point to for the Podcast.
Should be an interesting discussion. My friend and OaKs cofounder with me Ryan Costello lived in Afghanistan for 2 years teaching agriculture to returned refugees before he returned to the states and we formed the OaKs.
The OaKs' new album is reviewed in the most recent issue of Paste Magazine (March 2008). They call Songs For Waiting a "great album" whose "success lies in that balance between lyrical hyper-literacy and a catholic music sensibility that finds as much gravitas in a clap-along as a plucked-guitar." That was nice of them!
Recently, our first single "Masood" has been the Editor's Pick on CNET Download.com (over 10,000 listens and 3,000+ downloads to date), the #1 song in the Indie Rock category and the #8 most downloaded song on Purevolume.com. For now, Masood is a free download available through our Myspace site.
So stuff is starting to happen.
Let me know if you'd like to hook up.
