Wednesday Night @ Beauty Bar

It was Tex's Bday, so we pried ourselves from our computers about 8 pm to primp and go for a casual texmex dinner and then to Beauty Bar for some more live music action.

We were invited to Beauty Bar by Naomi the violinist for Southern Drama to hear them perform. Tex and Naomi exchanged some emails regarding the Circus Party being held Tuesday march 11th @ The Carousel Lounge. The bands ( Southern Drama) first big production of their own. They are very excited about it.

The theme for the event is Vaudevillian and Antiquated circus. They are encouraging everyone to dress up.

Tex and I attend theme parties on a regular basis and find that they are more fun than a typical gathering. The guests are more likely to interact at a different participation level . They are not simply bystanders watching the freakshave a good time. Attending in costume you simply become part of the festivities.

So back to The Beauty Bar, it was a neat dive bar scene with a retro throw back, even the attendees were uniquely part of the ambiance. I apologize, I didn't catch the name of the first band that played prior to Southern Drama. The second was Dans La Lune a Pop / Rock / Psychedelic with a high energy latinesque lead singer. A fun band to experience.

So make note of the date and get the costumes ready for a unique look into Southern Circus kicking off the start of an amazing SXSW 2008!
