SXSW '09 Insider's Guide

The hotels downtown are either sold out or ridiculously expensive. I'm err on the side of the former rather than the latter.
This discussion is for tourists that are stuck in this predicament.
Where can you stay when you've decided to come to SXSW too late and now there's nowhere to stay? What are alternatives to your normal hotels? Any other suggestions?

my house is a pretty rad place to stay :-).

Craigslist. Look for someone who is renting their place out.

Or you can rent a car and stay way out of town, but it's a pain in terms of cost (gas, insurance, PARKING, etc).

Next year: book your hotel before Thanksgiving. Or Halloween even! Seriously!

I'm still looking for somewhere to stay too. Would love to find a floor/sofa/someone to split cost with somewhere.
@Andy - emailed you to see if that offer is still open!

I agree, CL is generally a good resource, but at this late date...it seems everyone is in "gouge-mode" We got lucky and scored a loft a mile down East 6th from a fellow web-startup guy who lives HERE but is working in SF this month!
