Before I tell you about all the bands I am looking to check out that I have not yet seen, I want to get all kinds of excited about the triumphant return of My Morning Jacket. After seeing them countless times in 2006, I only got 60 minutes last year. It's time to put the Jacket back on, I hope they save rock and roll this year.

I always get a kick out of White Ghost Shivers, sort of a dixieland sound with a bit of theatrics. No clue if they're on this year's program or not.
And last year, I was blown away by Sia. Female vocalist with a terrific set of pipes.
And of course the Flametrick Subs, who've since parted ways with Clem Hoot if I read correctly. No idea if either are playing this year.

Some I'm interested in:

* Bon Iver
* The Cribs (saw them this summer, great show)
* Black Moth Super Rainbow
* Throw Me The Statue
* The Duke Spirit
* Nada Surf (depending on where/when)
* The Breeders
* Russian Circles
* Sia
* Vampire Weekend

Of course it's a bit early to say...

I wouldn't miss the paper bag records and upper class recordings showcase. here it is! Especially Sally Shapiro and The Acorn

I also wouldn't miss the IODA Opening Day Bash day party (wednesday @ emo's annex). Well, mostly because I work there, but hey, it's gonna have some good stuff ;)

Also recommended from here:
Blitzen Trapper- for those who love alt-country
Black Moth Super Rainbow- for the electronic inclined
Frightened Rabbit- for the scottish lover
Health- for something garagey
Jandek- for something spooky
Lindststrom- for more electronic lovers
Russian Circles- for some instrumental rock
Uffie- for those inclined to love French djs
Social Studies- for the San Francisco fan
Vampire Weekend- for those that trust blog hype
Von Iva- for girl power and a fun show
White Williams- for a pitchfork crowd

I have details!

We're happy to announce the details of our annual IODA Opening Day Bash at the upcoming SXSW conference in Austin, Texas. This year's showcase features popular independent artists from around the world in celebration of IODA’s five-year anniversary. Ten fan-favorite bands will help IODA mark this major milestone, including the first U.S. show since 2006 for the UK’s The Wedding Present.

This event is free and open to the public, no rsvp or badge required. All bands are represented by IODA and will be part of IODA’s free SXSW music sampler. To hear this collection of music, go to http://www.iodasxsw.com.
